TikTok commentator Anisa Khatoon Gwaizda was granted bail variation by the Nadi Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
This was decided by Magistrate Peni Dalituicama who presided over the matter.
Gwaizda appeared before Magistrate Peni Dalituicama represented by Faizal Koya and the state was represented by Prenika Lata.
The bail variation conditions were that Gwaizda deposit $2,500 as security, a stop departure be uplifted but she will submit her passport to the court when she returns and that she have one separate surety regarding her breach of bail and another separate surety for her substantive matter.
Gwaizda also pled not guilty to two counts of causing harm by posting electronic communication, contrary to section 24 (1) and (2) (a) of the Online Safety Act, 2018.
The matter has been adjourned to May 20 for Mr Koya to determine whether he will challenge the admissions made by Gwaizda and to confirm the defence’s position on whether the matter will be referred to the Online Safety Commission.
